One of my most favorite, favorite, favorite things to do is go exploring in the great outdoors. I love hiking and jogging along beautiful trails filled with sky high trees, running water, prairie grass, and wildflowers. It is a place to breath in fresh air and be one with mother earth. It is a place to truly be grounded and feel alive.
Here I am winding through my hometown hills of California. Although the land has been suffering from lack of rain, it still provides a calm and relaxing environment.
I find that wellness is not always just about food and exercise. Surroundings has a huge role to play as well. Your stress levels, the quality of air that you breath, and taking the time to stop, look around, and be present can improve your health more than anything else out there. Most of the diseases that we are confronted with today can be largely reduced by reducing stress levels. What better way to do that then to embrace what our mother earth has already given to us... but we may have been too busy to see.
Many people have differences on the type of outdoors they love - mountains vs. beach or lake vs. ocean. The important thing is that each day we take just a few minutes to explore these outdoor spaces. Whether that means you leave 10 minutes early on your way to work and make a pit stop at your favorite outdoor space or you just take a walk outside in a garden or park - just close your eyes and take 5 deep breathes and you will feel more refreshed than you ever imagined.
So where are you going to go today to experience all that the world around you has to offer? Have you even noticed what outdoor beauty awaits you? If not, it's time to take a break and go explore the outdoors.
