Take your Indoor Workouts Outdoors!

Today we are heading outside for a new perspective.
It has been my experience that many people feel that it is really difficult to take indoor or at-home workouts and bring them outdoors. If you are one of those people, I would like to give you a new outlook on that thought!
First let's start by talking about at-home workouts. Now, most of the at home programs these days are all available via streaming and can really be accessed by any device that can get internet. With that flexibility, it really makes things a lot easier! Now even in cases when an internet connection is not available or is not working very well, another option you have is to download the workout onto a device like a cell phone, tablet, or even computer. That way you have access to your programs no matter where you are... even if you want to take it down to the bottom of the lake :) How interesting would that be!
Now let's say that you do not have the ability to stream your exercise programs and you are for some reason not able to download the workout due to lack of space or not knowing how. If you have a computer with a CD player and you are still using those discs, this will still work for you. Just make sure that laptop is charged up!
So here is the thing. Just because a workout is meant to do at home, at a gym, at a facility of any kind - it does not mean that you HAVE to do it there if you don't want to. The best part about at-home workouts is that you get to choose where you want to be, what time you want to workout, and what atmosphere you want to do it in! That gives you ultimate flexibility.
As you can see above, I took my workout to the local park. I loaded one set of weights into my car (none needed if you don't have them or don't want to bring them), a water bottle, a towel, and my tablet. Set everything up and did the workout right there on the grass! I got to breath in fresh air, had a padded grassy area to jump around on, and even got a smile from the one old man that walked by me. What a refreshing experience it was!
If you can't find a park, you can really do this anywhere - a running path, a playground area (hey just invite the other parents to do it with you!), a deck area by the water, etc.
Now you may be thinking, well this is great, but what about during the winter or when the weather is bad? Now although a sunny day at a moderate temperature is the best option for this, don't let a little snow or rain stop you. When there is a will there is a way. If it is snowing or there is snow on the ground, bundle up and get out there! Just think of it as an extra push - plus your workout will keep you warm! If it is raining, just find an awning or a covered spot and set up your space. I used to live in the downtown Seattle and I would workout in a business park under an overhang when it was raining... which was like always! :)
So at the end of the day, I want you to take away this: don't ever feel restricted by something because there is always a way to make it work. Give it a try... even if just once... have an open mind... and you might just find your next favorite pastime.
xoxo
